Don't get me wrong, I love that Pokemon is still alive and going, but poor Ash... they just keep 'discovering' new Pokemon and he keeps falling farther and father behind in catching them all.
When Ash started his journey, he was probably all like, "I just have to catch/meet 151 Pokemon! That won't be too hard!" And now he's probably like, "649 Pokemon... That I have to catch/meet... You've got to be kidding me..." But he's still at it, hasn't given up. Man I wish I could be in his shoes!!!

This is why I'd be happy being an Eeveelution Trainer. I'd much rather focus my attention on a handful of pokemon than try to divide it equally between 700+. Also, remember that you have to take care of your pokemon too, meaning learning each one is going to require a different diet and methods on keeping them healthy, even if types have some similarities they share. Some people can barely take care of one dog or cat, and you want 700+ creatures to take care of?
Pokemon ranches and nurseries probably make a killing off stupid trainers who try and live by the motto "Gotta catch'em all".
